Abstract/Notes |
Commercial soaps nowadays are not true soaps but cfutergents. Those detergents contain some potential harsh ingredients, such as sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS). Originated from this problem, the innovation of natural soap is conducted. The innovation started by combining the basic ingredients of olive oil, canola oil, sunflower seed oil, and castor oil, as well as the active ingredients from Eucheuma cottonii Doty and tomato (Solanum lycopersicum Mill.) extracts. The result was then tested for its quality according to Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) parameters, hedonic test against organoleptic, and stability of pH, viscosity, and color during treatment. From sixth SNI parameters, i.e. organoleptic, pH, specific gravity, free alkali, the amount of fatty acids, and total plate count, overall suggested that natural soap passed the test. The results of hedonic test against organoleptic indicated that natural soap had the preference of emulsion of 2.73 (preferred), aroma of 2.47 (preferred), and color of 2.40 (preferred). In addition, during 21 days of treatment, natural soap tended to be stable in room temperature |
