| Abstract/Notes | Tea is a plant that is widely grown in many countries in the world. Green tea is a type of tea that is rich in benefits. Identification of pigments from green tea (Camellia sinesis) by TLC and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is described in the isolation with column chromatography, and antioxidant activity using DPPH method. HPLC analyses achieved the separation of 14 pigment peaks, consisting of 10 chlorophylls, and 4 carotenoids were detected. The main pigments of green tea is pheophytin. Antioxidant activity pheophytin has a similar value to β-carotene standard. |
